The Maloof Money Cup was this weekend, and aside from what was likely the most fucking annoying camera work EVER, there were some real gems in there (when the cameras were actually on the skaters- note to Maloof: fire the dude in charge of changing camera angles). Busenitz killed the place with creativity. Not the hugest fan of Nyjah, but the kid landed way more shit and was more consistent than most of the other pros (is his name on a board?). TK – seriously why we he even in the mix? P-Rod actually killed the rail set up, blandness and all. But the highlight: I seriously love when people skate shit in a way that was never intended (Busenitz anyone?). Leo Romero’s clip below (from robbrink.com) reminds us to shred EVERYTHING. Let your mind wander, and get out of the skate textbook (P-Rod anyone?)…
Sidenote: Holmes should not have been announcing. Straight up. Dude is a legend and all, but when things like Dompierre’s touque falling off stir quips like “I remember when my hair…” you know you should have hired someone relevant. The Darrell/TK slip during the rail session was wack too.
Bonus material: the rail session.
P-Rod Sr. Got hella annoying after awhile.
