Filmed in the summer of 2009, Altered Focus: Burma follows three young film makers and skateboarders Alex Pasquini, James Holman and Ali Drummond, as they acquire visas and travel through Burma searching for skateable locations and new cultural experiences despite the dangerous oppressive rule of the military junta. In a country where crimes against humanity occur frequently, and the use of cameras amongst Westerners can lead to heavy penalties, the trio move around to discover an antiquated skatepark in Yangon and continue to film and skate with a few Burmese skaters.

Take in all 19 minutes of this short documentary film and witness the reaction of the Burmese people as they see skateboarding (perhaps for the first time ever) on their weathered streets where freedom isn’t exactly free.
